Teachers and students at Excel High School and Monroeville Middle Schools now have access to cutting edge classroom technology. Last week, Seventeen HoverCam Pilots were delivered to Monroeville Middle School and for were delivered to Excel High School. Both schools also received OneScreen Canvas Interactive Displays.
According to the manufacturer, the pilot is a wireless digital teaching station. It has touchscreen capabilities, recording devices and a document camera. It has the ability to connect with other devices at the school such as other Pilots and computers. The Pilot is mobile and gives teachers the ability to teach from anywhere in the classroom without having their backs turned to the students.
The OnScreen is a large interactive display. It also has touchscreen capabilities and can connect to other devices Used in conjunction with the Pilot, teachers can stand anywhere in the classroom and provide interactive lessons for every student.
The Pilots were provided by Teachers ‘N Tools, Inc., out of Tuscaloosa. “Every middle school teacher has access to the rapidly changing technology to teach the next generation. The Pilot Podium is the first computerized podium for teachers, the latest in 21st Century Technology for classrooms” stated Cynthia Lowery, President and Chief Operating Officer of Teachers ‘N Tools.
Monroe County Board of Education Superintendent Greg Shehan is very pleased with the new technology and the opportunities it will provide Monroe County students. “We are very excited about this partnership. As we all know technology is constantly changing. This program will allow us to keep the newest and best equipment available for our student. We are looking forward to a long lasting relationship” he stated.
Teachers at Excel and MMS began Pilot and OneScreen training Friday. Representatives from teachers ‘N Tools provided training on the many different applications and uses of these new technologies.
